The Facebook Ad Library is a free tool that allows users to search and view active and past ads from any advertiser on Meta's platforms. It was originally launched in 2018 for ads related to political and social issues, but it has since expanded to include all advertisers on Meta's platforms. The Ad Library is a place where you can search for ads that have run on LinkedIn, and ads remain in the Ad Library for one year after their last impression on LinkedIn.
To access the Facebook Ad Library, you can type in facebook.com/ads/library
or search for "Facebook ad library" on your Facebook search bar. You don't have to make a Facebook account to access the library, nor will you need to log in. Anyone, anywhere (all countries allowed to access Meta's advertising network), can use the Facebook Ad Library to their advantage.
The Ad Library allows users to search ads that were created on or after June 1, 2023. All dates and timestamps are recorded in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The ad start date is determined when the first impression is delivered, while the ad end date is determined when the last impression is delivered. For ads targeted to the EU, the Ad Library shows the top three targeting parameters selected by the advertiser in when targeting their ad.
To use the Facebook Ad Library, you can follow these steps:
- Open Facebook Ad Library and search
- Select a country you want to see ads for and then select “All Ads” from the adjacent dropdown
- Type in a business name (like a competitor) or a specific topic or keyword in the search bar
- Click on a result to see details for different ads
- Add a filter to narrow down a specific element of the resulting ads
The Facebook Ad Library is a powerful tool that can help you level the playing field and see exactly what ads your competitors are running. It can also help you improve your ads by providing insights into what works and what doesn't.
