The Colorado Buffaloes football program is a college football team representing the University of Colorado Boulder at the NCAA Division I level. The team is currently a member of the Big 12 Conference. Colorado has a rich football history, having played in 1,109 games during their 125 seasons through 2014. They have had 11 coaches lead them to postseason play, ten of whom have won championships with the Buffaloes. Colorado won the national championship in 1990 and has won a total of 28 conference championships.
Recently, the team has seen some departures as four players, including defensive lineman Chazz Wallace, safety Jaden Milliner-Jones, offensive lineman Isaiah Jatta, and offensive lineman Savion Washington, have announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal. The spring transfer portal window opened on Tuesday, April 15, and runs through April 30.
Wallace, a senior with one year of eligibility remaining, played in 11 games last season for the Buffs, posting 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. He previously played for three seasons at Old Dominion. Washington, the Buffaloes' starter at right tackle for 10 games last season, missed two games with an injury but played 660 snaps over the course of the 2023 season. He transferred to CU a year ago from Kent State, where he was an 11-game starter in 2022.
Jatta, a 6-6, 300-pound tackle, played in 11 games with one start, seeing most of his time on special teams. He came to CU a year ago as a transfer from Snow College in Utah. Miller-Jones, a top young player on the roster, came to CU out of DeSoto (Texas) High School last year and played in all 12 games, including one as a starter, and posted 25 tackles and three pass breakups. It was also reported Monday that former CU defensive end Deeve Harris will enter the transfer portal. Harris, who played in all 12 games as a reserve last season, left the Buffs prior to the spring. He came to CU a year ago from Old Dominion.
With Washington leaving, all five of CU’s regular starters in the line in 2023 are now gone, and the Buffaloes have brought in five experienced transfers, as well as top prep recruit Jordan Seaton, to help address the line's struggles. The team is expected to continue combing the portal for even more depth given the current overhaul.
