Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a 2023 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics team of the same name. It is the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and is the thirty-second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the second installment of Phase Four. The film was written and directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, and Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary.
The story follows the Guardians as they settle into life on Earth but are soon upended by the echoes of Star-Lord's past. When Rocket's life is in danger, Star-Lord rallies his team on a mission to save him, which could potentially lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
The plot involves the Guardians infiltrating the High Evolutionary's lab to save Rocket, who has a flashback of his past and the promise he made to travel in a spaceship with his friends. The team learns that one of the High Evolutionary's recorders has the key to override Rocket's kill switch and sets out to find him. Upon their arrival, they are reminded of the High Evolutionary's past rejection of Rocket and his friends, leading to a confrontation and the destruction of Counter-Earth.
